Home Mildew

House mildew and mold are conditions that we all hate to have in our home. Mildew has many health risks that can affect our well-being and can often cause or worsen any existing chronic illnesses.

Mold is a fungus which is described as being a fuzzy texture which grows in any moist enviromnent on various kinds of surfaces.

Molds in homes  vary in colour according to the different types. Mildew is a type of mold that often grows on food, plants and fabric but the term is often used to apply to all kinds of mold growth, including black mold. The latter is known to produce harmful mycotoxins which cause a toxic reaction when inhaled. It is also linked to illnesses such as asthma and general allergic reactions and infections in the body.

Household mold releases mycotoxins into the air, which can have toxic effects in humans, often with symptoms similar to flu, sneezing, wheezing etc. It is also believed to be linked to a myriad of other health complications, such as asthma, allergic reactions, and infections. Whenever someone has been affected because of mold they should seek the help of a physician and also treat any mold in the home to remove it as quickly as possible.

Before cleaning with a mold and mildew spray or cleaner it is important to firstly examine it and detect the source. Find out where it is coming from so that you can take steps to prevent it happening again. It is usually found in the darkest and most damp areas of the home such as bathrooms and basements, attics and storage rooms.

Use dehumidifiers and air purifiers or any other source of ventilation, even just something as simple as opening a window to let in some fresh air. These simple steps can prevent house mildew from coming back. If the problem is very bad then it is probably best to seek professional help, either from an experienced person or a guide book on the subject
.
Make sure you are not allergic to the mold before cleaning as otherwise it can make it worse for you and your general health and well being. When removing mildew it is advised to wear gloves and a face mask. Mold remediation can sometimes be effective by using vinegar and bleach but only clean mold yourself if it is less than 10 feet and this may only be a temporary measure if the original conditions that produced the problem in the first place are not addressed. Proper mold solutions need a thorough analysis and appropriate well planned action.
